red hot (and righteous)

it is abso-freakin-lutely ridiculously hot here.
so hot that they declared a "heat warning," and you can get stopped by the cops if you are outside.

the problem: in some of the poorer areas, people can't afford air conditioning-- and this is a must have to survive. i'm not being hyperbolic-- people have died because of the heat.

the Salvation Army, God bless her, has opened up all of her corps and centers around the division, for the next two days, from 10am-10pm, for people who don't have AC.

this means that there must be someone at the corps at all times. Josh and Jen are away right now-- so i'm here, manning the building for 12 hours a day. we'll see what happens. i don't know yet if i will be sitting here alone for two days, or if this place will be flooded with the homeless and lowerclass citizens who need a "cooling center." that would be excellent, and a perfect opportunity-- though i'd be a little nervous about chaos breaking loose.

anyway...needless to say...the rain of Vancouver, and the snow of New England seem to be from seasons in a lifetime gone by.

drinking lots of bottled water,
Olivia

Livi:

Not much better in NYC, though I suspect the midwest is hotter.

Think OOB in 10 days - with chilly nights in August. The Polanco basement must be just perfect now!

Hold the fort!

Once again, great title : )

I like Eliza Doolittle's version of a superlative better though (less harsh : ))
"Abso - bloomin' - lutely"

See you next week!
