Parable of the Pearl
I throw it out there for some insight on the parable that we learnt in Aaron's class.
I had a discussion with a friend and wanted to recall the teaching that we had on this parable (Matthew 13 - 45)
Why were the words that Jesus spoke perhaps controversial and shocking for his audience to hear? There was something in reference to the pearl and the socio-cultural context Jesus was teaching in.
I couldn't find where it talks about pearls being considered worthless in Jewish culture. In fact I see quite the opposite. But if I got the details wrong or you have some wisdom I want to hear it. Always learning
